Meta Description Tags

Meta tags might seem like a small detail, but they are a significant component of a website's SEO and accessibility. They are snippets of HTML code that provide search engines with information regarding the page's content. Meta tags appear in a web page's head section, not the body.

The primary purpose of meta tags is to help search engines understand the content of a web page. Consequently, they include meta titles, descriptions, and structured data markups. The meta title serves as a headline that concisely summarizes a page's contents and is limited to 60-70 characters. The meta description summarizes the page's content, available to users beneath the headline. It should be 155-160 characters long. Structured data markup presents content in a standard format that search engines can easily read and interpret.

Although meta tags' influence on page rankings decreased over time, they are still an important on-page SEO tactic. They are crucial in optimizing click-through rates by summarizing the page's content in search results. By creating compelling snippets, meta tags improve the webpage's clickability and make it easier for users to navigate from search results to the website.
