VOOMIE

Tarah & Barry set out to create lifestyle supplements that were as playful and relatable as they are. They wanted something simple, easy, and authentic, a brand that felt like a friend, not a prescription. One that helps people with busy brains own their day. We were deep in the naming lab: dozens of names, hundreds of ideas, until we found the one. It had to be zippy, energetic and vibrant but not juvenile. Voomie, the perfect blend of voom for humans with the zoomies. Funky, fun and as original as they are, Voomie has since been embraced whole-heartedly by their sunny, neuro-spicey community.   

EMMBR

Originally named Marshall McAdam, this tech recruitment agency had an established reputation in the market, however, the inclusive evolution of the technology industry meant their  heritage, caucasian-sounding, masculine leaning name no longer aligned with their vision, their talent, their team or their growth goals. Rivyl proposed a name and imagery that connects to the recruitment journey. Emmbr represents the spark talent feels when they kick-off looking, one that ignites with confidence as they progress, depicted in the icon design. The spelling added a subtle homage to the double M initials of their origins and a nod to their industry. It has been hugely successful for Emmbr, a hit with both team and talent alike.

Burning QuestionsWith Soothing Answers

No, generally we advise against this. Words and names are very personal and unique, it is not a good idea to poll customers on the intended direction when they are unfamiliar with the overall strategy or objectives. It is more effective to lead the process and bring them along with storytelling and communication, than to get weigh in. This advice also applies to family, besties, friends and partners outside the business.

Naming is a difficult art with a lot of complexity. Included in your package is a single comprehensive round of naming. In each round you will receive 9-12 viable concepts to select from that have been whittled down from over a hundred ideas and vigorously checked against business name registered, trademark databases, social platforms, google, and our creative instincts. If you choose not to proceed with a concept, you are able to add on additional rounds.

Rivyl is committed to providing a viable name concept. Whilst we are not Intellectual Property Attorneys, we work closely with our contacts and the relevant public resources to do all possible due diligence. In the rare instances you hit objections during the application process, we will assist with whatever is necessary in re-ideating or pivoting the concept to ensure ownability and registerability.

You can lean on our expertise. Often clients presume there will be a feeling of ‘knowing’ or ‘recognising’ a name is the one. Unfortunately this often can indicate infatuation rather than lasting love, and burns out quickly in a few days. We use a framework, that we teach you, to test your preferences against to ensure bias is minimised and the critical factors are well considered. That way when we do your logo design, you’ll continue to fall even more for your name. Rivyl will also help with visualising your favourite 3 concepts when you hit the tricky spot of narrowing down your top choice.
